PEACE CENTER FLORENCE
Florence is the capital city of the Italian region of Tuscany and of the province of Florence. It is the most populous city in Tuscany, with approximately 382,000 inhabitants, expanding to over 1,520,000 in the metropolitan area
This and the fact that it is host to about 4 million foreign visitors each year, creates the unique opportunity to be a place of encounter between people of different cultures from all over the world.
Using this potential Florence can become a leading center promoting communication between nations and a stepping stone towards a more understanding and peaceful society.
The location that has been chosen to host the “Peace Center” is LA MULINA in the Cascine Park, which is a recreational area located just outside the Old City and in close proximity to major train stations and the airport.
When projecting the Peace Center the intention was to create a place that will not only be visited by foreign visitors but is also attractive as a recreational center to the locals, increasing the number of regular visitors and thus promoting interaction.
